Tonight I walked into the livingroom that has our computer. The cat, Sassy, has decided her new place to sleep is on my printer. It is a fax, printer, etc. but the fax part is not hooked up. Thankfully, as Sassy likes to step on the button that dials. While walking in, I notice Sassy asleep. But something just doesn't look right. I walk over and talk to her. She doesn't move. I touch her. Still nothing. I somewhat pick her up. She feels dead. I have held a lot of dead animals in my life and she is dead.
Terry is there beside me telling me to see if she is breathing. I don't feel anything. I kind of shake her. Still nothing. I am thinking...how am I going to tell my children that yet another pet has passed. Even though she is around 15 years old. About that time, Sassy opens her eyes and looks at me as if I have disturbed her dying. Damn cat! Scared the life out of me. If that is her idea of fun to play dead then she is a very disturbed cat. I will be surprised if we have much time with her. She has been acting stranger. I told her tonight to say hi to Trapp and Mask when she crosses over. Tell them that I miss them and love them. Life will truly not be the same without the old girl. She has been our family since she was 2 months old.
During the first years of Terry and my relationship, we had a siamese tomcat. Terry and the tomcat had a bit of territory tussle. One day the cat disappeared. I still don't know what happened to the cat. I missed him and was looking for another siamese to replace him. Many months went by with no luck. I missed having a cat. One day on party line, I heard the ad for free kittens. I called the number, knowing it was not a siamese. I went there after work and there was Sass and her siblings. I don't remember how many I had to chose from. I think maybe 6 kittens were in that box. I fell in love with Sass. She had the little white spot on her nose that looked like an angel kissed her on the lips.
She also has the most endearing black toe. She has white boots on all feet except that one black toe. Oh she was a feisty little kitten. Therefore, her name was born. Sassafras T. Reynolds Lindberg is her full name. She bit too hard. Had to swat her many times to get her to restrain herself. Plus she had the most maddening habit of bringing home her prey and sneaking it into the house. So many times she didn't kill it and there was a live bird or bunny in our house. Now she doesn't hunt so much. Does a lot of sleeping.
Wyatt and Sass didn't get along when he was a toddler. She would attack him and he would beat up her. They now have a tenuous relationship but they are friends. Cracks me up when she is playing and will allow me to touch her or retrieve something close to her. The boys try to get it and she attacks them. Such a funny kitty.

Momma's New Pair of Shoes
Well last time I talked about socks and undies. This time it is about shoes. All of us needs new shoes. Terry got 2 new pairs of boots, Morghan a pair of tennies, and me a pair of very pretty blue Nike tennies. It has been 2 years since Terry and I had new shoes. Ok, I have had dress shoes and flip flops. But not my everyday, kick around town shoes.
I can not believe how fast little boys can go through shoe sizes. What the heck? At the beginning of school he was at a size 3. Now he is in a 4 1/2. I can not believe we could get these shoes on his feet everyday. I need to get Wyatt in and check out what size he wears. Sooner or later they have to stop don't they. Gonna have clown feet soon.
All in all we had a good weekend. Stayed somewhat close to home. On Saturday, we drove to the scout camp and participated in the popcorn pizza party. Only 33 scouts succeeded in this honor. Wyatt being one of them. They have a drawing of extra prizes. Wyatt won a 1/2 paid admission to scout camp this summer. He was not impressed. His first choices were walkie talkies, then something else I can't remember, then the last chance was the paid admission. I was happy with it as it has a value of almost $100. Him being a child, he wanted something to play with and take home.
Have to love Jeremy. He is the scout person in charge of the popcorn party. There is a large barn that has been renovated. Upstairs in the loft is where we had the party. It is around 40 degrees for the temperature for the day. Inside the barn feels colder. There is no heat. Jeremy says the heater is broken and we are just going to have to make the best of it. I went out to the car to retrieve my coat. Some families were not as lucky. Be prepared people!
About 1/2 way through the event, I went over to talk to Terry. He says the heater is working now. He was able to fix it. Fixing it was just a matter of lighting the pilot light. Umm Jeremy...love ya doll but we need to work on growing that brain. rofl
Been busy preparing for the blue and gold banquet. So much to do so little time. I would really like to get Wyatt cub scout scrap booking done. Then I can keep up with boy scouts right. Ha! As if.

Tax Refund
Whew! We made it to another year of the tax refund! Yay! I love that we get so much back. Thankfully kids help that a lot. It is the only thing that enabled me to stay at home this past year. I am hoping we will be as lucky. So far, we have gotten our state refund back. It helped keep the gas turned on so far. Paid that bill as soon as I knew the money was there.
So many things we need from this return. Tonight I spent $65 dollars mainly on socks and underwear. How sad is that? That we have to wait for a refund to be able to not have ratty undies. This economy has to turn around fast! Pray, pray, pray!
